Protein Powder Waffles

Protein Powder Waffles

I love Saturday mornings. I get to sleep in, watch the sunrise and make breakfast I can chew.

When I first started the Arbonne 30 Days to Healthy Living and Beyond, I had already decided I would take a break from protein shakes for breakfast on weekends and have eggs. That was great! And then I moved on to trying a recipe for protein powder pancakes. Holy cow, I was so excited! Easy, delicious and filling.

But Belgian Waffles. Those are my JAM. And Google is a magical thing. So I looked up a waffle recipe, subbed in my protein powder, and presto. Beautiful, delicious, easy, healthy waffles. And pretty much equivalent to a shake. Tadaaaaa!!!

Here’s the recipe for this delicious bit of heaven on a plate

  • 1 scoop Arbonne protein powder (I use either vanilla or new cake batter flavor)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3 tbsp water

Mix all ingredients. Grease heated waffle iron with grapeseed oil using a pastry brush. Fill waffle iron and cook to desired doneness.

I also heat up about 2 cups of sliced strawberries in a saucepan and put those on top of my waffle. And yes, real whipped cream. Because a girl’s gotta live her very best life. But I use Cabot REAL whipped cream.

My husband even loves these. That’s the true test, friends. He also loves them with peanut butter mixed into the batter. If you’re eating clean, I recommend sun butter or almond butter, but totally works in the batter. We’ve also added walnuts. Sky’s the limit with these, friends!!

I will caution, not all protein powders are created equal. A friend of mine said he hates them, because of the protein powder his wife (one of my BFFs) uses. I’m definitely biased toward Arbonne, but I’ve never tried any others, because I do think the taste and texture are so great. Peeps I know have had others and do prefer the Arbonne powder. So do with that what you will. Meanwhile, I’ll just be over here enjoying my Saturday Sunshine and Weekend Waffle. It’s a thing. I just made it one.
